Photo Cutouts for road safety campaigns

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue service road safety campaign

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) are now using photo cutout boards as part of their road safety outreach programme. DWFRS approached us to produce a series of bespoke cutouts to engage with the public as they go out into the community highlighting the importance of road safety.

The road safety team at DWFRS opted for 4 different designs, to represent the “fatal four” dangers on the road. The designs included:

  • This is my sober face because mates look after mates
  • This is my ‘do not disturb’ face
  • This is my smug face because I wasn’t speeding; and
  • This is my ‘saved by my seatbelt’ face

The humorous boards will be used for road safety presentations at school shows and at community events to deliver road safety messages to the public.

“We’ll be using the boards at our Safe Drive Stay Alive shows and community events in place of our previous pull-up banners. It’s proven that people are more likely to change their behaviour when something resonates with them and using humour as our initial approach makes our messages more memorable. In addition, anyone who tries out the boards will probably have a photo taken and share it on their social media accounts, which helps to share our advice even further.”

Using Photo Cutouts for awareness campaigns

Photo Cutouts make a great engagement tool. They are a fun way to deliver public awareness messages and have been used as part of several awareness marketing campaigns. Take a look at these examples for inspiration:

Keep Scotland Beautiful anti-littering campaign

Litter awareness board

This freestanding photo board was a first for Photo Cutouts. The client asked for the face holes in the cutout to be optional, so the face ovals could fit back in. The eye-catching artwork served as both an interactive photo cutout and as informational board signage. Read the full blog on this campaign here.

BeesNeeds environmental campaign

#BeesNeeds is a campaign by DEFRA and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust to promote awareness of bees and other pollinators. London’s Carnaby Street was renamed Carnabee Street for a week and our board was part of the campaign.

Keep Britain Tidy

Keep Britain Tidy awareness campaign

Keep Britain Tidy chose Photo Cutouts to make a set of three boards as an engagement tool for their anti-littering campaigns.

Blue Flag #BestBeaches photo boards

Blue Flag Award photo board

Keep Britain Tidy also commissioned some Blue Flag boards to promote clean beaches. Blue Flag is managed by Keep Britain Tidy on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education.  A selection of photo boards were positioned at beaches that had been awarded the Blue Flag.
